In-house Electrical Patent Agent Employment opportunity, Mid-Atlantic U.S.
Keith Ross & Associates Inc. is engaged in a search assignment for a Patent Agent on behalf of a corporation located in the Mid-Atlantic United States. Local applicants only please. Our client’s technologies are in the electrical arts area. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of experience as a patent agent, an educational technical background related to electrical engineering and registration to practice before the U.S.P.T.O.
Responsibilities include: Assist in managing the intellectual property portfolio; conducting searches; responses to office actions; statements of use, renewals, monitoring, oppositions, providing counseling, training, and mentoring to employees on intellectual-property issues. Lead and participate in invention mining sessions, including the ability to identify high quality patents, and review patents to determine claim scope and quality, analyze patent claims in relation to products and prior art. Manage and coordinate invention review meetings, including the intake of invention disclosures and related correspondence with inventors. Correspondence relating to patents and maintaining patent and patent application portfolio, including supervising and maintaining the docket and liaise with outside counsel. Responses and directing correspondence to the in-house or outside counsel for further handling. Support patent legal professionals in the preparation of intellectual property related legal opinions on issues such as freedom to operate, ownership, infringement, and validity; Response to office actions; Conduct patent searches; Due diligence as it relates to acquisitions and divestitures; Interact with a talented core of innovators; Develop and implement offensive and defensive strategies; Assess third party intellectual property rights;
