Brake Fluid
Your brake fluid is the blood of the brake system and needs to be monitored when your fluid is low. Low brake fluid can be a sign of other issues, such as the need for brake pads and/or shoe replacement. Rusted or broken brake line(s) or brake hose(s).
Brake Replacement
The braking system and the brake replacement is one of the most important safety concerns when it comes to the maintenance of your automobile. It is a good idea to have you brake pads checked every 6 months or when you suspect a problem. A few symptoms you should watch for are squeaking, grinding, or increased stopping distance if you experience any of these symptoms you may need to consider brake inspection.
Pulsing Brake Pedal
If you experience your foot pulsing up and down when depressing the brake pedal you should be concerned this is a sign of a warped brake rotor. Most newer car manufacturers use thin brake rotors to keep cost low. With the daily wear of the metal and the heat generated by the brake pads eventually the brake rotors become warped. When possible we turn the brake rotor. This restores the flatness of the rotor and eliminates the pulsing sensation in the pedal.
Pulling to One Side
If you experience a pull to one side or the other it may be a symptom that your brake caliper is failing. A brake caliper is a piston that is driven by the pressure created by the brake fluid when the pedal is depressed. When the brake caliper is failing it tends to stick open and continue as if your foot was on the brake pedal. This can eventually wear the brake pads out. If left long enough it can warp and ruin the brake rotor as well from the grinding of the pads.
